  • How Does Brooklyn Do Accessibility?

Wondering how Brooklyn does Accessibility: Are there child themes or theme layouts to support user accessibility? Plugins that work best? What are your recommendations?

NOTE: I already use UT products, this is a pre-sale question about Brooklyn for two upcoming builds with requests re WCAG and user accessibility.

    Thank you! :)

    Hi,

I'm afraid we don't have any features to enhance Accessibility or recommendation of plugins.

What kind of features are you exactly looking for? Such as Font Zoom / Color Switch?

    Hi,

I see. I have to admit that I'm not very familiar with that topic. I just read a few topics and took a look at the WCAG.

The good thing is, the theme has a ton of option for coloring. Means that you can easily apply for example contrast requirements defined by WCAG.

However, since I don't know all the requirements of WCAG I can't give any good starting points.

If you are going deep on this topic, you should definitely use a child theme. We tried to make as many file as possible plug able. Means the theme will load the file from the child theme first. And all our functions are wrapped with function_exists, means you can even make copies of the functions and place them inside the child theme without crashing the website.

That's basically all info I have at the current stage. My first search also gives me links promising plugins you can use, such as:

    wordpress.org/plugins/wp-accessibility/

    and

    wordpress.org/plugins/accessible-poetry/

and for contact forms we also have in our theme:

    wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7-accessible-defaults/

    Kind Regards
